Introduction
D-Link,
an industry pioneer in wireless networking,
introduces a solution for businesses seeking
to deploy powerful and reliable Wireless LANs.
D-Link unveils its new AirPremier 802.11a/g
Managed Dualband Access Point (DWL-8200AP),
designed specifically for business-class environments
such as large or enterprise corporations,
to provide secure and manageable dualband
wireless LAN options for network administrators.
Versatile
Access Point
The AirPremier 802.11a/g Wireless Managed
Dualband Access Point allows network administrators
to deploy a highly manageable and extremely
robust dualband wireless network. Both dualband
antennas are detachable and can provide optimal
wireless coverage in 802.11a, 802.11g, and
802.11b bands. Enclosed in a plenum-rated
metal chassis, the AirPremier 802.11a/g Wireless
Managed Dualband Access Point adheres to strict
fire codes for placement in air passageways.
For advanced installations, this new high-speed
Access Point has an integrated 802.3af Power
over Ethernet (PoE) support, allowing installation
of this device in areas where power outlets
are not readily available.
WiFi Certified
Enhanced Performance
The AirPremier 802.11a/g Wireless Managed
Dualband Access Point delivers reliable wireless
performance with maximum wireless signal rates
of up to 54Mbps* in both bands simultaneously.
With dualband connectivity, two networks are
created running at full bandwidth speeds,
offering a significant increase in total network
capacity. Network Administrators also have
the option to increase the wireless signal
rate up to 108Mbps* using D-Link 108G technology,
while remaining backwards compatible with
the IEEE 802.11a, 802.11g, and 802.11b standards.
This, coupled with support for Wi-Fi Multimedia
(WMM) Quality of Service (QoS) features, makes
the ideal access point for audio, video, and
voice applications.
Security
To help maintain a secure wireless network,
the DWL-8200AP provides the latest in wireless
security technologies by supporting both Personal
and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 (802.11i)
with RADIUS. To further protect your wireless
network, MAC Address Filtering, Wireless LAN
segmentation, Disable SSID Broadcast, and
Rogue AP Detection are also included.
The
DWL-8200AP includes support for up to 16 VLANs
for implementing multiple SSIDs to further
help segment users on the network. It also
includes a wireless client isolation mechanism,
which limits direct client-to-client communication.
Multiple
Operation Modes
To maximize total return on investment, the
DWL-8200AP can be configured to optimize network
performance based on any one of its multiple
operation modes: Access Point, Wireless Distribution
System (WDS) with Access Point, and WDS/Bridge
(No AP Broadcasting). With WDS support, network
administrators can set up multiple DWL-8200APs
throughout the facility and configure them
to bridge with one another on one band and
provide network access on the other. Also
included are advanced features such as load
balancing, which optimizes high network traffic
volume, and redundancy for fail-safe wireless
connectivity. Additionally, the DWL-8200AP
offers Spanning Tree Protocol support for
greater efficiency and to avoid broadcast
storms when used in WDS mode.
Network
Management
Network administrators have multiple options
for managing the DWL-8200AP including Web
(HTTP), Secure Sockets Later (SSL, which provides
for a secure connection to the Internet),
Secure Shell (SSH, which provides for a secure
channel between local and remote computers),
and Telnet (a bi-directional, eight-bit byte
oriented communications facility). For advanced
network management, administrators can use
D-Links AP Manager or D-View SNMPv3
management module to configure and manage
multiple access points from a single location.
In addition to a streamlined management process,
the AP Manager or D-View software provide
network administrators with the means of verifying
and conducting regular maintenance checks
without wasting resources by sending personnel
out to physically verify proper operation.
With
integrated dualband functionality, PoE support,
extensive manageability, versatile operation
modes, and solid security enhancements, the
new D-Link AirPremier 802.11a/g Managed Dualband
Access Point (DWL-8200AP) provides SMB environments
with a business-class solution for deploying
a wireless network in the workplace.
