desktop switch for the SMB and enterprise

Switching
Features
The DES-108 8-port 10/100 desktop switch
supports full duplex operation on all 8
interfaces for up to 200Mbps per port, and
a combined switching capacity of up to 1.6
Gbps. Per-Port color LEDs clearly indicate
link status and port speed for quick diagnostic
and troubleshooting. It features a non-blocking
switching architecture that filters and
forwards packets at full wire-speed for
maximum throughput. The DES-108 combines
dynamic memory allocation with store-and-forward
switching to ensure that the buffer is effectively
allocated for each port; and controls the
data flow to guarantee against possible
packet loss. The DES-108 is scalable, allowing
two or more units to be cascaded together.
Since all ports support 200Mbps, any one
of its eight ports may be used to cascade
to an additional switch to open a Full-Duplex
Fast Ethernet pipe. Additionally, the DES-108
supports 802.3x Flow Control to minimize
dropped packets through the sending out
of collision signals when the port’s
receiving buffer is full.
The
DES-108 is compact and portable. With its
small footprint, the DES-108 can fit in
almost any location making it the perfect
solution for implementations where space
is limited. In addition the DES-108 is wall
mountable, providing even more flexibility
for mounting under a desk or in a small
wiring cabinet. Ambient noise is never a
concern with the DES-108. With no need for
cooling fans, the DES-108 runs quietly and
unnoticed, making implementations where
low decibel operation is required simple
and worry free.
Easy
to Install and Maintain
The auto features of the DES-108 8-port
10/100 desktop switch make installation
plug and play and hassle-free. No configuring
is required. Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover on
all ports eliminate the need for crossover
cables or uplink ports. Crossover or straight-through
CAT5 cables can be plugged into any port.
Auto-negotiation on each port senses the
link speed of a network device (10 or 100Mbps)
and intelligently adjusts for compatibility
and optimal performance, providing an automatic
and flexible solution for the network.
