Introduction
Cisco
Systems® is introducing a new, dual-input,
4200 WAC power supply designed for large scale
power over Ethernet deployments. The new data
and voice power supply provides two inputs
for increased flexibility. Inputs can accept
110V or 220V circuits depending on total power
required. Dual low-current inputs eliminate
the need to rewire closets with large capacity
circuits.
The
dual-input 4200 WAC power supply is designed
for large scale PoE deployments. By providing
multiple inputs, the AC power supply allows
network administrators to select one of four
power modes to meet their needs. Many PoE
deployments require only a fraction of the
4200W available in this supply. 12 Amp inputs
mean administrators can connect the supply
to standard wall outlets. The 4200W power
supply can power a Catalyst 4506 chassis with
copper line cards on a single 110V connection.
Likewise, it is possible to deploy a fully
populated Cisco Catalyst 4510R with two 110V
or a single 220V circuit (Table 1). Please
note, installation on an 110V circuit in North
America requires the use of a special cord.
